Discuss Kingsman: Zlati krog

Am I the only one who feels this way? .. I LOVE the first film and I was really looking forward this one but I feel they did the same mistakes as Kick Ass 2 and pushed the cartoonish aspect of the franchise to 100. I mean robot dogs, Whisky Bottle shaped building, a 50's city in a middle of the Jungle etc.. It really reminded me of these Rodriguez Spy kids film without the kids in it. I just did not get the same vibe as I did in the first one. Worst part of it all was Elton John! I absolutely hated this cameo, not only he his truly awful at acting but it turned the film into a farce and it lost all credibility it could have had. Personally this was one of the most disappointing film of 2017 for me.

Sorry you think that. If you consider these movies of 2017; "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" (2017;) doesn't seem so bad. "King Arthur: Legend of the Sward" (2017,) "The Emoji Movie" (2017,) Smurfs: The Lost Village" (2017,) or "Fifty Shades Darker" (2017.) I'm defending Golden Circle because I feel it's one of the most entertaining movie I've seen this time of the year; if not this whole year.

Haha I know , it was not the worst, I will add Bye Bye Man to that list as well lol but I think for me personally it just suffers in comparison to the original. I do not think it was an horrible film and although I did not mention them in my OP there was some moments I liked but as a huge fan of the original I was really looking forward this film and the final product just did not meet my expectation.

I'm surprised they avoided any golden circle jokes... seemed like a missed opportunity...

lol..I see the OPs point...the above DOES sound like a Spy Kids movie...I still felt it was entertaining & a worthy sequal, but ultimately inferior...maybe Matthew Vaughn learns from this & closes out the series with an EPIC 3rd chapter!

I doubt I'll watch another one of these... at least not in theatre

Yes, I also loved the first Kingsman movie, but this one was absolutely terrible. I gave it 2/5 rating. So glad I decided not to waste money on seeing this in the theater.

So it's out on video now? Man; how time flies! Normally I wouldn't have much more to say about a movie I have already committed on unless the storyline is really deep. What's interesting is I recently had some thoughts about the sequel of this movie that might help explain why this movie is so (seemingly) different from the first (when on the surface it really may not be that much different.) I think it has to do with the origins of the original inspiration that got the movie red lighted in the first place. It may have been a happy coincidence with everything coming together in all the right ways to make the first of the two seem like a good start to what could have been a incredible movie series. That may have been, and because the first was successful...they simply carried on with what originally inspired the first instead of building on what really worked. What I'm saying here is the producers themselves may not have been able to see the ingredients of what made the first one work in the same the way the fans of the movie saw it work.

It's always fun to see how Batman started, it's always fun to see how Spiderman started, it's always fun to see how Ironman started, it's always fun to see how Wonder Woman started. Now that we all have learned the incredible story as to how someone got started...what do you do to move on with the story of that person? Once we have full character development, we now have a full set of expectations as to what to expect from that character. The sequels can start with lots of action because we already know the character; yet we are bored.

When I think of the history of spy movies of the 1960s (there are way more than most people know including what was on TV at that time;) not all of them were successful like the very few of the original spy movie themes that still have franchises today. I don't believe Kingsman was ever meant to be taken seriously from the start, and yet the "The Secret Service" (2014) even though it did a very decent job in a oddball kind of way spoofing spy movies; (as there were also many spy spoofs back in the day) it was done really well...so well; it actually looked liked it could have been the start of a new spy spoof movie franchise, and I think that's where we have the start of the downfall of what was hoped to be a new series of this type, (even though it was originally over the top;) that alone unknowingly could have been it's downfall.

There was a time (before the 1960s) when sequels were rare; not really expected...a movie was that; just a movie. Now if something makes a profit especially right away; more times than most there's speculation of a sequel even right after it's first day of release...it's almost expected. Kingsman is a spoof of a spy movie which upon it's 2nd release "The Golden Circle" (2017) tried to come up with it's own storyline with it's own expectations based from the first and fell flat since there was nothing more to spoof; only it's self.

I agree... it took itself waaaay too seriously and was far too earnest and sentimental...
