I mean she killed hundreds of people drunkenly and just hungover while Oscar didn't kill anyone till she started to boss him around about going to the park even though he made sure no one was gonna get hurt. also SPOILRSS she even kills him. She even is a dick to her ex about him kicking her out of his place but she is the alcoholic with no job that using her boyfriends place for a party as soon as he leaves. and even when they split up he calls her up and stops himself from going completely off and asks about how she is. also the ending kind of shows that her drinking problem is gonna put everyone in both towns in danger if she is around.

I don't think Gloria is supposed to be the bad guy. Seoul model supposed to represent her hardworking, successful future. Oscar, literally crushes it. Causing some sort of magical shizzle wizzle. Let's call it a curse.
Gloria, gets somewhere in life, semi successful. Oscar hates her for that. But what he doesn't realize is Gloria wanted to be a fiction writer. But she settled for blog articles. Very similar to him, she really didn't get what she wanted out of life.
Gloria, is stuck in between worlds. It's her story, and she is not the bad guy. But I wouldn't really say she is the good guy either. Films would be boring if they still stuck to the good guy-bad guy formula. So you got a point there but simply doing bad things doesn't mean you're a bad guy. Oscar kept doing "good things" remember? Gave her a job, furnitures etc. Didn't make him a good guy.

damn.... I dig that answer. I kind of get Gloria better from your lens better now, but honestly I was just weirded out by a main character who killed repeatingly (even to beat the "bad guy"). but this movie seems to suffer from trying so hard to symbolize it kills it's storytelling, cause it only looks like Oscar crushes her dreams because of her bugging him about even going there safely.
I just wish they made her less of a killer even when she was sober-ish she murder a helicopter with her forehead. while I wish they built more on Oscar being jealously cause I thought he was just being envious. he did seemed fucked up below the surface when we saw his house but to kill him seemed too much when comparing kill counts.
just saying the movie halfway tryed to built Gloria up to be a hero after she fucked up a third or second time and killed hundreds of people but by then Oscar was just goofing off in the park without trying to cause harm and she bugged him into playing the bad guy.
they should have made Oscar more evil and made him more of a drunk or a killer to abuse his powers cause now we're left in the end of the film not with a guy who will only kill to keep a girl from leaving town but a girl who accidentally kills hundreds of people with a morning hangover.

Oscar is still majorly fucked up since he commits mass murder with glee in his eyes. I saw Gloria killing him as a comedic "well, i wasn't going to harm you, but when you put it that way..."
But yeah she's kind of a douche.

I think maybe a better ending would be if she ate him. If you get too literal the monster's stomach acid would kill him but let's just imagine this monster doesn't have a deadly stomach acid and Oscar is prisoned in Gloria's monster's body. Kind of funny, the comedic effect they were going for, but at the same time kind of multi-layered and I would even say "poetic".

I don't see the "logic" in that but it would be better than her throwing him since he probably landed on a building somewhere and killed more people ...

wow didn't even think of that.... her kill count just keeps adding the more you think about it.

My logic was that's about the only thing she can do without killing him. Especially if you think about how she was upset about killing a bunch of people by accident earlier, I would write it so that she is even unable to kill a guy who wronged her a lot. So she chooses the only practical solution and swallows him in her monster form.

Which would kill him, because explaining to the audience that her monster form's stomach acid isn't actually acidic would be awkward to pull off... unless they have a shot of him being "imprisoned" and at the same time manage to show to the audience that he will be imprisoned forever and never actually dissolve in her stomach.

I don't agree because, just having a shot of him in the stomach is enough to explain everything. Is he dissolving into some acid and screaming? No. There are countless animations and live action films that have a character eaten by a monster and not die. They even sometimes escape. I don't think it's too much of a leap of faith to expect the audience to understand this since it's been done before.

I know exactly what your talking about but for me in those shots with the bad guy who just got into the stomach and haven't started dissolving and even if they escape after a few days I just figured the acid wasn't that powerful.

I thought this was where she was going to go...either biting his head off (because she could guess at the proximity location of that) or swallowing him whole. While I agree this might have had more symbolism, in the allegorical narrative that would mean that she "internalized" him and that he would then be part of her forever (whether there was stomach acid or not).
I think the point of her killing him instead is that this allegory is about power, and by killing him she no longer gives him any power or input. As far as him hitting something, I assumed he cleared the atmosphere. Whatever he might hit was the least of my concerns. I'm sure there wouldn't be much left. The only other thought I had was that she might simply crush him. Which would have been cool because the robot would have clearly been defeated while suspended in mid-air and his body could have just dropped on the damaged playground equipment. But all that being said: I would have never had the creativity to invent a story like this anyway, so I'd say their ending was pretty solid! ;)
