I saw it this past weekend in Memphis. Absolutely beautiful. I cannot fathom the time and effort it took to make this film. I don't think you've missed it-it was just released here last week-perhaps in an arthouse theatre? Try to see in on the big screen.
I can't believe I missed this in theatres. Marvelous movie, a masterpiece on all counts. Then again I doubt they played it in my country, still no sign of Suspiria either.
Some cinemas just lack proper dramaturgy, the experience would be unbelievably more beautiful on a big screen.
All of life can be wrapped up in one tiny area, from one unique perspective.
Well, I love Vincent, so Loving Vincent is second nature to me.
A malady of the South. Hmm. Why didn't Dr. Gachet treat his wounds?
Why did his portrait pop up in the 1990s in Christie's sold at $83Million only to disappear
?
You guys should check out the more recent At Eternity's Gate for another look at Vince's life with Willem Dafoe as the Goughster. Both films are very interesting in their own way.
Thanks for the recommendation, Justin. I've always been a big fan and great appreciator of Van Gogh's art, and have always found his ill-fated life story fascinating.
I don't have much interest in or appreciation for van Gogh, but this was an engaging little film, with the relationship between the van Gogh brothers and the doctor and the 'murder mystery' style investigation both worked well. I thought I'd tire of the art style, but it was kind of charming too. Not a detailed examination of van Gogh, but a touching tribute that is definitely worth 90mins of anyone's time.
