I didn't even know that they had released this until a friend told me about it a couple of weeks ago. I have to say that it wasn't all that bad. Is David Brent still painful? Yes, incredibly so but it's clear that Gervais clearly loves this character which makes it all that much more watchable.

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. My only main complaint was that Brent's songs were a bit too terrible, even for him.

Knowing 'The Office' and the 'Equality Street'-bit Ricky Gervais did, a few years ago for Comic Relief, I expected this would be a cringe-fest watching David Brent 'On The Road'.
What I didn't anticipated was that he somehow managed to move me at the end of the film.
It was genuinely touching, seeing how some of his band mates and some co-workers saw trough the whole bravado of David Brent and tried to side with him.
So despite his often rude and obnoxious behavior he managed to connect to people around him. Well done, Ricky Gervais.
I liked it a lot!

The Invention of Lying and Derek would be two good examples of how touching his work can be.
