Discuss Baby Driver

I saw this movie opening night and was really hyped for this movie. I'm a fan of Edgar Wright's movies so I was expecting to be massively entertained with this movie. I was really bored from this movie, yet everyone I know loves it. Maybe I need to see it again.

Nah....you're right it is nothing special. Personally thought it got progressively worse as it went on and by the final quarter I was just waiting and hoping it would finally end.

Highly overrated.

FFS, at IMDB it's sitting at an 8!

Ugh.

I blind-bought this on blu-ray because of the reviews and after listening to the soundtrack all summer. Hope I'm not disappointed...

I was surprised how banal it was; storytelling sacrificed for music clip filmmaking. Generic style over substance.

if you like the soundtrack that much you'll enjoy the movie... hook up some speakers to your TV and rock out!

It was lame until the last quarter of the movie. This was right after that last bank robbery. I really enjoyed it. Everything got so crazy. It reminded me of The Blues Brothers.

I didn't expect it to be a "story" oriented movie anyway...

It's nicer when they incorporate actual performers such as real musicians, singers and dancers into these movies... it's also one of the criticisms of La La Land... But I think Baby Driver suffers more from it, as fun as it still is...

Neither do I.

Braindead cheesy sentimental wishy-washy vapid tripe.

Yeah, just saw it, rated 4/10. Seem like Driver or Drive watered down for Snapchat generation, it was really trash. Robberies were lame compared to masterpieces like Heat, so was the music compared to Drive and other movies, honestly it seemed more like TV movie for some children channel.

It was great. Obviously some people didn't like it but I was pleasantly surprised. OK, a lot doesn't make sense but still good entertainment.

The one thing i didn't like was the limited time of Jon Bernthal...he was barely in it and only at the beginning. Add to that he was basically playing the same character as Jamie Fox

This film showed up in town soon after I learned of its existence via Rotten Tomatoes.

I remember being very excited. "Wow...an Edgar Wright film featuring car chases? Ought to be a gas."

It most certainly was not. Flatulence gas, perhaps. After a flaccid and unbelievable car-chase things degenerate into mind-boggling bad territory. The dullest lead ever, hired some time ago by a constipated Kevin Spacey. As part of his "crew" we have two male idiots who spend more time bickering like clever clogs than doing master-criminal activities, and an eye-candy female who drapes herself over her beau when not doing nothing else. She showed the most verve in this, and kinetic energy. While doing nothing.

What action there is after the beginning is quick and stupid and forgettable. A love interest between "Baby" and a female waitress who goes goo-goo over Baby instantaneously is as cornball as it is devoid of emotion or excitement.

As far as the bank heists...what heists? We see no real planning for them, unless one can rob banks simply by slapping charts down onto tables and frowning at them. Baby is supposed to be some bad-butt getaway driver. He runs INTO trouble more often than not.

Stupid movie, full of stupidity. Including a villain who turns into Da Terminatah by da end. Watching this, I got the feeling Wright made a movie for `Muricans more than he made a film for his usual intelligent-humor crowd. All this film needed was a game cast, a script not written by a 13-year old, 100% more action, 110% more wit and charm, 5000% more suspense and drama and Bob's your uncle we'd have had a movie worth watching, no question.

So, so close. Like Monaco is close in size to Canada. To say this movie was disappointing would be to say death is bad for your health. Profoundly disappointing, and quite insulting to film buffs who've seen better on Saturday afternoons bored to tears.
