Discussão Gotti

not the next godfather, goodfellas, or scarface movie. travolta is a decent actor but not even he was safe from this mess of a movie. kinda like a rushed project put together at the last minute. i can elaborate but please do believe the critics at rotten tomatoes.

for me 4/10

it was just cringy af. every scene where travolta playfully threatened his wife just came out as fake. the rumble scenes were a joke, worse action than the fakest wwe match. i could go on. it wasnt even "the room" bad, just bad. no reason to throw away money at this movie because it clearly does not deserve it.

Sounds like the film should be avoided at all costs then. Again I'm not knocking Travolta or his acting style but it sounds like he was just effing terrible here.

i mean if the story and direction was any good, travolta's Gotti would have been passable. i think travolta is a great actor and he was a good fit for gotti, but the movie was a mess and it wasnt his fault

I admire the OP for making the effort to watch it. I don't take Travolta seriously as an actor--he's always been a lightweight--and a role like this needed an actor that brings gravitas and a sense of malice. He was trying to fund a prestige product for some notoriety, but the notoriety he received for a box office bomb wasn't a great return on the investment.

Casting him in a film like "Gotti" may either be his come back or put a damper on his future projects.

Pulp Fiction was Travolta's come back.

The movie was a mess, and even if you disagree, I thought it was one of Travolta's best work.

Remember this movie was suppose to come out just before the end of 2017, for a chance to qualify for the March 4th 2018 Oscars, but it was pulled about a week or so before it's original release date. The release was going to be limited, and from what I read, Travolta didn't like that as he felt this was his best work and wanted the movie to be a wider release. It finally opened on 503 screens about six months later, and ended up being his worst opening on 500-plus screens since "Shout" (1991.)

I read that Travolta used some of his own money to help give it a wider release, but I don't know if that's true or not.
