Good morning ! I don't know if this is the place to say it, but this new film is not linked to the previous ones... Would it be possible to detach it from Letterboxd's "related films"?

I'm curious as to why you think that?

It is for me a complete reinvention of the universe, it is certainly similar to what I would say of the previous saga but innovates and creates new things like Pinhead, their lores, ... The simple fact that everything is re -explained shows that the film/director wants to reach a new audience, viewers unlike that of 2018 which fits well into the saga. And unlike other horror sagas that pick up at the same points, Hellraiser chooses to wipe the slate clean and may then be able to offer us better sequels.
There you go... Hope I wasn't too confused 😅

Overall I liked it, though the characters are kind of just there to be killed. Reminded me in ways of 13 Ghosts (2001), but not in a bad way. Hulu has hit 2 for 2 with this and Prey.

This is no more disconnected from the original films than the earlier sequels are (the likes of Inferno, Deader, Hellworld, etc.) - there's barely any continuity or consistency in the Hellraiser series.

It certainly needs a "re-boot". Not a patch on the original films or the lore that comes with them.

I enjoyed it. The acting was very good and the gore was, well, horrifying. Not sure if the new Pinhead is as scary as the original but I did like the other creatures. Also, have to admire that they took their time and saved most of Pinhead until the 3rd act.

True. Didn't really find Jamie Clayton's Pinhead to be scary (nothing could really top Doug Bradley's voice), but still very good update. Would watch a sequel, though hopefully with an all new cast of main characters.
My only one complaint thinking back on it is that I prefer the cenobites "clothed". I get they had to separate this ones from the old ones but having them be totally naked with flayed skin just had me thinking "aren't they cold?"

They could wear sweaters.

I have never seen a Hellraiser movie so I might be wrong but aren't the Cenobites dead?

not exactly. to another point I wouldn't say all of them are naked in the new one. They mostly have creepy rubber suits.

Yeah, it was a decent movie to watch. Some visual elements, like the transition to the realm of hell was done quite nicely. I do agree that the Cenobites look is not as optimal as it could be. There is not much focus on the details of their bodies and not enough gore to emphasize their body horror. They also don't project horror and terror, they seem a bit stupid and do not invoke enough fear like in the original film. I would've want to see more body horror of Cenobites and their torture victims, the movie focused more on the story and less on that aspect. If it was a sh!tty story the movie could've been really bad. But since the story is entertaining and the production is visibly done by professionals, the result is not bad at all.

Considering that they are beings that get pleasure out of extreme discomfort, i.e. pain, I think being a little cold doesn't bother them.
