A terrific performance as the antagonist of this political comedy. The film, Frank Capra's final movie, sadly runs out of steam fairly quickly and Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn, while they have their moments, are far from their best here. But Lansbury is splendid as the scheming Republican millionaire newspaper owner, and the film lights up whenever she is on screen (which, alas, is very little after the first half hour or so).
