Okay. I get they may not want to make a full fledged musical and they want to play up the physicality and martial arts. However, this era of Disney animated movies heavily relied on music. I cannot imagine the movie without the songs Make a Man Out of You and Reflections. At least play those as background to enhace the scene. The actors don't have to sing it. Ugh.
Also they are replacing Shang with some cadet. I get putting their own spin on things but not changing the basics of the story.
The things that have come out in the past fews days have me depressed. I loved the remake of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. The animated Mulan movie is one of my favorites. Now I am totally not excited for this remake.

This is the most preposterous movie news I've ever heard. Mulan is my favorite Disney film, Make a Man Out of You my favorite Disney song and Shang my favorite Disney prince (even though he wasn't a prince). Absolutely ridiculous. They better change their minds about how they're going to make this movie.
I loved the remake of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast because, even though they put their own spin to the story, added more details, they were still loyal retelling of the beloved animated versions. I hated Maleficent because they changed the story. Mulan better not be headed the same way.

If no songs...there's already a movie lol with Vicki Zhao. And agree with Shang - most badass Disney male 'prince' like Let's get down to business..to defeat the Huns.. my fave part!
They probably want a Crouching Tiger kinda film but Disney.

Now the latest reports are "no songs yet."
The pessimist in me thinks they were probably going to make it live action martial movie, but even prior to the release of Beauty and the Beast viewers complained. I am sure the success of the B&tB remake has them rethinking things.

Are we going to get our McNugget Szechuan sauce? That's the real question.

Disney's obvious desire to capitalize on the Chinese market, with a faithfully unquestioned stance, explains the watered-down adaptation that appeases more than it excites. Miss the wonderful descargador de musica of disney movies.
