Discuss Embrace of the Serpent

Fairly haunting and reminiscent of a couple of my favourite films; the setting and other worldliness of Aguirre: Wrath of God meetiing the characters and message of Dersu Uzala.

I enjoyed that the main elements of it was based on true events (or more accurately, what were reportedly true events at a time of limited or no independent verification) but by Jove some of it was unusual and not an easy watch. So strange it almost detracted from it and snapped me out of my immersion. Like an Apocalypse Then rather than Apocalypse Now.

Well shot and excellently acted, I'll even let slide the use of b&w for once given that it fitted with the original photos.
