I saw this film on Saturday and it was somewhere in the middle for me, it wasn't either bad or good, it was just average. I just find it odd that Michael Bey does not use the material already out there to develop his storylines, there are plenty of cartoons and comics which he could use as source material for these films and two things are happening here, either he is doing his own things with these films or he is using these films to fund other projects and does not care about the backstory. Bey himself has admitted that he doesn't know the background of these characters, I do not the source, and it shows in these films. I get limitations and product placement, however that is no excuse for just throwing these films together. If they get a sequel, maybe the next director will tie that film closer to the source material, despite the fact that he is written into a hole with Unicrom being buried beneath Earth.

I saw this Thursday...and as a life long Transformers fan (my son being one as well), I was SEVERELY dissappointed! I honestly think Mr Bay has single handedly DESTROYED the franchise...at least here in the U.S. Not even sure if they should bother with continuing the story...Queintessa...so VAGUE, she's their "creator"...oooh aahhh...Why is Unicron on Earth? Questions that I'm sure many really don't care to find out the answers too.
IMO, Paramount should consider waiting a few years and rebooting the franchise.

I would say that it is a step above AOE, the plot is more concise and it seems like they got the idea that they need to expand their universe, they do retecon so things, they have stopped using the name Galvatron for Megatron for one thing, you will forgive me, I have forgot most of the ideas from AOE, however that was the biggest one that stood out to me. It seems like they were trying to do a soft reboot with this series and it was just average, in fact I may remember it more than the last one because they hint at unicron throughout the film, which makes me wonder how they are going to make him work if there is a next film.

Thanks for your POV.... I think no matter what others say.. I guess i will have to go and check it out myself....
Update... Just watched the damn thing. Now I can feel what the others are feeling. I know the reason of their agony.
They wasted the entire movie. They made the great optimus prime into a joke.
The more they tries to involve humans into the transformers universe, the more worse it becomes.
Michael Bay really needs a script writer who genuinely feels for the transformers franchise. Otherwise what happened in this movie will continue to occur in the future releases if they makes any. I really wish they don't. Its an insult to the whole transformers.
This movie will be ok for first time movie watcher.
