Yeah, it definitely looks better than the Topher Grace version and I understand that with something like Venom you really do need to use CGI. But it would be nice if it was CGI that was... not shit.
And I've been thinking recently, CGI has been around for a really long time now. It's been around since Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, even The Abyss. That's over 29 years. It really should be a lot better than it is. The technology should have advanced to the stage where it looks completely real by now.
At least the poor CGI distracts us from the fact that the trailer show us the entire plot for this movie. Only thing missing is a clip from the final boss battle.
It's like me saying that the star trek enterprise doesn't look fast enough in warp speed... But how the fuckk would I know what fast in enough warp speed would look like.
Your a Trekkie? That explains everything.
have you seen real live alien symbiotes in urban surroundings to be able to judge.
I'm guessing it wouldn't look like a cartoon. Do you understand this? Or do you want me to say it in Klingon?
It's you're not your, you thick cuntt. You're a dyslexic that explains everything. Cartoon? What's your basis for a real looking alien with a mouth as a face? For as long as I've used the internet... CGI complainers/mongs (you included) have always astonished me, rendering me speechless with their utter inanity.
Hahaha! Sounds like I hit a nerve.
You so are though, aren't you? I bet your wearing one of those starship uniforms right now as we speak aren't you? Maybe even the pointy ears too.
I think it looks pretty good right up until the end when you actually see Venom. He looks too CGI for me.
Trailer didn't 'grab' me, but that's no big deal. Regardless of how the trailer looks, I don't trust Sony enough to get at all excited about anything they produce. I may give the movie a chance when it hits theatres, as it isn't Marvel Universe so it won't be as formulaic as those are. But I'm not expecting anything more than average at best.

You are so THOUGH? YIKES TALK ABOUT BRAINDEAD.
That's how you spell 'though', buddy. And no, you got the 'are' and the 'so' the wrong way round. Seen as we're being petty about that kind of stuff.
So... do you guys think this film will refer to Spider-Man 3, or will discontinuity win the day?
Nope; Sony have relaunched Spidey since then so this may make reference to Homecoming, but otherwise I'd be surprised if there are references to previous films.
I don't understand why people do this. Fair enough if it's of very poor quality, but complaints of "too much CGI" in films that couldn't be done any other way really grind my gears. "Too much CGI" in a Transformers film is a ridiculous complaint. It might be valid in a remake of "Beaches", though.

Ok, to clarify, it's not the fact that he's CGI that I'm complaining about but more the quality. I do realise that with something like Venom there is no other choice but CGI and I probably will enjoy the film regardless.
No, I'm not saying Venom is the worst CGI ever. I am exaggerating. And I have even been forgiving of very poor CGI if the story and filmmaking creativity is very good. But that does not mean that I don't think it should be mentioned.
As I've already said, CGI has been around for a very long time now. The tech should have advanced to the state where it should look at least close to perfect. And I've seen many cases where it does.
But I do find the case with CGI usually is that it just looks off. It seems to move too fast. They can't seem to get the physics right. It looks weightless and flat. And they don't really seem too interested in developing these issues.
The reason it often doesn't look up to par is because it's rushed to meet deadlines. And if we continue to accept this without saying anything they will continue to do things this way. Do you not think we deserve better?

the whole premise looks poorly executed imho, i hope i am wrong, but its not looking good tbh, the CGI looks poor, and some of the supporting actors are usually in mediocre movies.

Damn that Tom Hardy! If he was a real actor he would have found an alien symbiote to transform him rather than cheat and use CGI.

I agree with you on that. I was kind of excited for it, but after seeing more of the trailer, I'm not exactly pumped to see this anymore.
