Discuss Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

What is this movie even about? What is at the foreground and what is at the background? It is not about the adventures, mysterious artifacts, secret societies or saving the world. It is a movie about depressed old guy that lives alone and doesn't realize that he needs a family and someone to take care of to find some happiness. During the movie he learns it and gets it. The rest of the whatever can be called a plot in this movie is just a waste of time at the background of that realization.

This is how the movie was framed and delivered. The banal and the mundane are being elevated to the top frame and wrap the movie as the higher purpose and the meaning, while at the end making everything in between seem like pointless and not important. This is the problem with that screenplay, it is the opposite of how an action-adventure movie has to be. Spielberg knows it, the Crystal Skull is at least about adventure and solving the mystery of the skulls, with everything else at the background. Dial of Destiny is just about understanding that life is better with a family, we could've skip everything else, it is not memorable and has no impact because of how that screenplay was written.
