www.historyvshollywood.com/reelfaces/lion/ says the Lion cast and crew decided not to show any kissing between Seroo and his girlfriend Lucy out of respect for their Indian audiences. So, is showing a book acceptable for the same viewers?
I ask this question in the spirit of inquiry. In my non-Indian mind, showing a woman's boob (even if the nipple is blocked) would be more unacceptable than kissing.

In certain cultures, kissing is seen as more intimate than nudity or even sex itself. Perhaps that is the case with the Indian culture, and if so, yes, seeing a breast would be less offensive. I mean, it's just a boob.
