I don't get the hate for this movie.

Manchester by the Sea may be my favourite American film of the last couple of years. I absolutely adore it, but it's not for everyone.

I have little interest in seeing Hacksaw Ridge. I gave up on Mel Gibson ever turning out a film I liked years ago.

I'm an open minded movie watcher and really wanted to like this, but I have to tell the truth. This was an overrated, overhyped movie. It was too slow, and I like slow, but this was painfully slow and disengaging. Honestly, it's just a truly bad movie.

On the other hand Hacksaw Ridge was great. Loved it.

For me, the movie was just boring (I get it, it was supposed to be a movie just about life) and I guess it just never evoked any emotion really; and found it hard to connect with any of the characters, though Affleck did an amazing job IMO. Hacksaw Ridge at least told an interesting story.

i don't love it, stopped watching when i stopped religious blabbering at very beginning, for me Manchester is the best movie of 2016 and one of the best produced at least in recent 5 years, I can think maybe only about one better movie (Jagten)

I thought both were great movies but i liked hacksaw ridge better

A lot of people find Manchester boring because it's a drama oscarbait movie. Now hacksaw is an oscarbait movie as well, but its a war/action movie. Personally I didn't hate Manchester but if I was gonna watch either one a second time it would be hacksaw ridge.

I don't hate the movie. But I didn't enjoy it. It reminded me of Boyhood (2014) -- they both seemed to lack a point.
