Discuss Free Fire

Any of you guys seen this yet? Is it fun?

I liked High-Rise, one of Wheatley's earlier films... it was quite stylised, but was a bit serious given the sunject matter....

is this movie any good?

It's stylized, but it's also trying to be a Tarantino movie just without the sharp dialogue and a lot of the action is just guys shooting (and missing) targets. Felt like a short film stretched to feature length.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/xi96hecSDbQ

thanks!

I was forced to sit through this because I went with my friend. Awful in every sense. Watch The Belko Experiment instead.

Nah this wasn't bad to sit through, sure it was an endless gunfight in the same location for the entire film, but it was an entertaining film that had a good script, at least imo. It didn't re-invent the wheel, but a worthwhile watch if you're into these types of films, if you're not then do go ahead and skip it. I gave it a 7/10 rounded up from a 6.5

I thought it was alright, true that it could have been better but it was watchable. relaxed

It is fun but it could have been even funnier and better. It drags a little and it needed more twists.

Yeah, it seriously needed a lot more work done to it, I mean it wasn't a bad film but it was lacking a lot of things. It could have been a lot more funnier and I actually noticed that there wasn't a lot of music in the film as most of the film is just in silence, and it certainly needed more twists in it. The film's budget was $10 million but it sadly bombed by only grossing $3.5 million worldwide, so even a fairly lower budget film like this can flop.

It gets a bit repetitive after 45 minutes or so. I would say 6/10ish. I didn't really care for it even though I liked most of the cast.

You nailed it... Dreadfully boring and surprisingly lacking in visual interest... i guess High-Rise was a fluke...

High Rise was made very recently, just before Free Fire.

If you want to see a good Ben Wheatley film you really should see Kill List. It's his best by a mile. It's the film that got him noticed. His second I believe.

I thought Free Fire was pretty repetitive too. I quite liked High Rise. But definitely not as much as Kill List.

I'll check Kill List out

Cool. Even if you don't like it, it's still an important film that has to be seen by film lovers. It's very dark and bleak so it will be devisive. But the best films usually are.

I'll add that 'Sightseers' was also a good film by Ben Wheatley - a very dark comedy, very English... Like a Carry On film meets Natural Born Killers.
