This is a semi-related thought: I wonder if I'm the only one who thought that John Goodman's character deliberately got into that accident with Michelle, so that he could subdue her and take her back to his bunker. Hmmm.
But it isn't, Cloverfield and 10 Cloverfield Lane had no connections. J.J. Abrams bought The Bunker and changed the name and the ending so it'd do a bit better, which really sucks, as the movie would have been better if kept how it was going to be.
How though? The only similarity they shared was having a giant beast and mini beasts. But 10 Cloverfield Lane, which was originally not going to involve this stuff, lacks the lore that Cloverfield had.
Because it seems it seems that Michelle doesn't know about monster attacks and that sets it in a new continuation.
Howard eveals he’s worked at the company for seven years and most recently had a significant breakthrough diagnosing transmission complications with two of our governmental clients orbiting satellites. Howard’s work have anything to do with Tagruato’s crashing satellite seen at the end of Cloverfield?
Was Howard the one who discovered the incoming invasion first, or was he the one who summoned the aliens through satellite communications?
A Kelvin has station and a slusho sign with no links to the first yet are on display showing they are connected, but goes by a new continuation. Once she's outside seeing Chicago being attacked it's just like the first where Manhattan is being destroyed.
So it seems to be a remaining of the monster being summoned this summoned by satellites and destroying the world. A few nods here and there like any reboot does with a franchise.
I don't think that 10 Cloverfield Lane needed to be part of the "franchise." The ending felt really, really weirdly tacked-on and the movie worked better as a psychological thriller where you weren't sure whether or not what was happening to the characters was real or manipulation. I still wish, in my limited way, that these had turned out to be a series of mysterious giant monster movies. Throwing in the alien angle and now dimensional travel just isn't terribly cohesive and nothing feels as connected as they want it to seem.
Cloverfield, the first film in the series, is a found footage monster film released on January 18, 2008, which was well-received by critics. After it, several films initially conceived as standalone features were modified to make them part of a franchise. The first sequel, titled 10 Cloverfield Lane, is a psychological horror-thriller film that was released on March 11, 2016, and like its predecessor received positive reviews from critics. The Cloverfield Paradox, a science fiction horror film, was released by Netflix on February 4, 2018. Unlike the previous two films, it received negative reviews.
they should have a collection. but apparently you(staff TMDB) are more informed than J.J. Abrams
rely on facts, not on personal opinions, otherwise it becomes a site where information is distorted by personal opinions
Surprised no one mentioned this, but anyone remember the upcoming OVERLORD movie was supposed to be a Cloverfield film too? Caught the trailer in theaters and..unfortunately, looks like it no longer is...Article here
Cloverfield Paradox was VERY weak...hoping the franchise isn't done yet...I don't mind the Twilight Zone-ish standalone stories. Supposedly Abrams was gonna tie 'em all together in some way with an eventual crossover movie, but who knows if that's still the plan considering Paramount is struggling and is in need of sure fire hits vs experiments.

on this we agree, but the cloverfield, 10 cloverfield lane, and cloverfield paradox, are part of the same universe, statement by J.J. Abrams. so it is not up to us to give personal opinions, the three cloverfields must be in a collection,we do not have to decide ourselves, not even the TMDB staff, it is an objective fact.
I also agree that there should be a "Cloverfield Collection (2008-2018) due to the fact that the film producers have clearly stated more than once that the 3 films [Cloverfield (2008), 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016), The Cloverfield Paradox (2018)] are most definitely connected and part of the same universe. It is part of the reason that the word "Cloverfield" is in each of the titles. Since The Movie DB hasn't made this a collection, I've created my own collection information, with set poster and fanart.
As explained in our rules, collections aren't a mean of grouping movies that are part of the same universe, but only to group true movie sequels.
I quote the rules : "While sometimes controversial, collections are not intended to be a way of grouping movies of the same universe, person, character or theme, or imitating box sets."

I second that. If you like a movie or not, or if was re-branded or not, is not leading us anywhere. And is simply not relevant here.
Please read that article linked in the original request.
They should be in a collection. Even if your personal feelings are different.
Same universe, same producer... there will even be a fourth movie available in late 2018... there are a lot of other collections available.
