Discuss The Lost World: Jurassic Park

This movie could have been so much better if the characters weren't so stupid for the sake of drama. Like how they can't smoke cigarettes because it interferes with the natural way of life but they will kidnap a baby t-rex. The biggest annoyance is how everyone seems to just stand there and watch dinosaurs attack (or ships crash into them). There are several instances where they are running for their life, but decide to stop, turn around, and stare at the dinosaurs coming to kill them.

Yes. This was a dumb film in my opinion, because of how idiotic the characters were. With the exception of Dr. Ian Malcolm, nobody else seemed to understand the danger of what they were attempting for the first portion of the film. I mean, I would trust the person who survived the first Jurassic Park catastrophe, being badly injured during that, to know what he's talking about.

Also, an annoyance to me was how the Sarah character was so adamant about "I don't need a white knight to save me, I'm a strong woman" yadda yadda. Too dumb to see it's not some female rights issue, it's a matter of intelligence and logic, but this is just ignored. I hated how Malcolm was the only person with sense enough to see that this whole adventure could've been avoided from the start.

I didn't feel sorry for any of the characters who died. They all were stupid, pretty much. Everyone in the film was borderline retarded for making the choices they made. That truck over the cliff scene went on WAY too long. The girl using gymnastics to kick the raptor was laughably bad. Sarah realistically should have been killed, but the two raptors just decided not to kill her for some random reason when they could have, and fight each other. I also agree that kidnapping the baby T-Rex to fix its leg was idiotic. This was an embarrassing follow up to JP 1. I was frustrated just watching this for the first time.

A few points to add: The retcon of the dinosaurs being born on Sorna when we already saw them hatching in a lab on Nublar in the first movie.

The "heroes" being responsible for dozens of deaths, just so animals bred for a zoo aren't put in a zoo.

Both Sarah (an animal behaviorist) and Roland Tembo (a big game hunter) seeing the baby rex blood on her jacket but doing nothing about it.

Killing raptors with the power of gymnastics. They never seemed threatening again.

No one being in radio contact with The Venture until it was moments away from collision. It would have been intercepted much earlier.

The Venture still reaching the correct pier on schedule with a dead crew.

The T-Rex killing the ship's crew on the bridge. How'd it get in?

None of the customs agents or San Diego PD firing a shot. There's very little competent gun use in any of these movies.

The small animal control truck speeding away always makes me laugh, but there are too many gags in the San Diego scene.
