Discuss Unforgiven

... just a note for fans of the film or anyone interested:

Unforgiven is showing twice tomorrow (Wednesday, August 9), at 2:00 and 7:00, at certain Cinemark theaters around the country. The film already showed on Sunday, August 6.

I viewed the film on Sunday, and I am going back again tomorrow. Seeing it on the big screen, which I had never done before, was a treat. Unforgiven is a beautiful film visually, but not in the conventional ways. The haunting naturalism of the lighting and the locations—a Western set on the Great Plains and in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains that the filmmaker (yes, I can use the singular in this case) actually shot on the Great Plains and in the the foothills of the Rocky Mountains—comes through even more on the big screen (although it certainly comes across on smaller screens, too). And that visual naturalism aids this most realistic and despairingly subversive of Westerns.

I didn't become a fan of this film until long after it had it's theatrical run, but my home theater is well considered (and the floors are clean, the seating more comfortable, the restrooms spotless, and the snacks far better!!). Still, I'd like to see it in IMAX.
