I was really impressed with his performance, although I'm unfamiliar with his other work. The portrayal of Simon was the highlight of a film I thought badly lost it's way with the final 'gift'. Simon's performance merited him being the monster of the piece that destroyed his own life 100% through his own actions, past and present. It was heading for that satisfying and coherent ending and then threw in an unnecessary, far fetched and not entirely coherent twist right at the death.
