Excited for

-the musical numbers :) I can't wait to see Be Our Guest and the ballroom scene.

Curious about

-Emma's performance. I like what I've seen so far, but I'm not sure about her voice. I'm hoping I'll get so wrapped up into the movie I won't notice her lack of experience. -How the changes are going to work on screen. I read the novelization and I actually really liked it. Some of the changes I'm not so sure about, but the majority I thought actually made far more sense -The final scene. I really hope they keep the very last scene the same where it pans out through the stain glass. I don't know why, but that final scene gives me goosebumps every time.

Most Apprehensive

-The new songs. I feel like they are going to feel like a waste of time. I haven't really gotten into any of Disney's music since the Lion King, and from the snippets I've heard so far of the new songs, I'm not super impressed. They seem unnecessary and feel like fillers.

Oo yes! I love the stained glass window at the end. I hear you about the new songs. I'm curious, but I am a huge fan of the ones from the stage show that aren't being used and Days in the Sun and How Does a Moment Last Forever (or whatever it's called) are pretty bland. I think I will like the Beast's song, but not necessarily in context. I am looking forward to Emma Thompson as well, which I forgot to mention before.

orangecolouredsky I'm similar to you with some tweaks.

Excited:

  • Just to see how the whole thing plays out in live action, how they do certain scenes, etc.

  • Also excited about Audra MacDonald

  • For some reason, looking forward to the "Gaston" song/scene the most atm

Curious

  • The fleshing-out of LeFou, if the reports of the novelization are accurate. I mean, giving him an arc. Like, I'm not sure if I'll hate it or like it.

Apprehensive

  • Also apprehensive about Emma Watson. I did like her as Hermoine and all but it's hard for me to see her as anything else. It's just like "There's Emma Watson going through the motions as Belle." Not buying it yet. And from the clips, I'm more worried about her acting than the singing. We'll see.

  • The Beast CGI. Kinda terrible, kinda distracting, kinda hope the distraction element will wear off after 10 minutes

  • The political statements of girls not being allowed to read, blah blah. Just keep the plot what it is without trying to add new "statements"... And no I'm not anti-feminist, it just seems cringeworthy to me to add that in

exited about (one word): Gaston!

`Excited About (In no particular order):

  • The Expanded Prologue (How did the Prince become such a monster to literally be transformed into one?)
  • The New Songs ("Evermore", "How Does A Moment Last Forever", and "Days In The Sun")
  • Be Our Guest (The big showstopper)
  • The Title Song (This moment will make or break this film)
  • Belle's Backstory (Whatever happened to her mother, where did Belle's love of books start, and what events lead to her and Maurice moving to the village?)
  • The Climactic Battle & Transformation (The 1991 animated film's climax is one of the best in Disney history and to see it come to life will be a sight to see)

Hoping For:

  • The Beast's True Name (Yes, in recent times Prince Adam has become the name that is synonymous for the Beast's human form, yet it actually originates from a Disney CD-ROM game called "The D Show" and ever since then has become the unofficial moniker for the Prince. Even the directors of the 1991 classic admit that they forgot to give him a name during production. Now would be the perfect time to rectify that.)
  • The Enchanted Staff's Backstories ("Days In The Sun" will probably give us some history on the enchanted objects, but I'd like to know more about what they were like before the curse and why they were cursed with the Beast)
  • More Moments Between Belle & Beast (With an over 2 hour run-time I'm hoping we'll get more development into the growing romance between Belle and the Beast. What I like about the animated film is that its never explicit how long Belle stays at the castle, and therefore I've always felt Belle and the Beast had the most developed romance of all Disney couples in that it's not love at first sight and the two had to learn about each other before they fell in love. I'm hoping the live-action adaptation keeps with that feeling of time passing as their feelings for one another grow).

Nervous About:

  • Belle Knowing About The Curse (Although Belle knows she's living in an enchanted castle and most likely realizes the Beast used to be human, it's interesting that in the original film Belle never learns the specifics of the curse: that the Beast has to love and be loved in return before the last petal falls on the enchanted rose in order to regain his humanity. Because of this, she learns to love him for who he is, and not who he used to be. Now it seems (at least from the trailer) she will learn about the rules of the curse beforehand, and the only thing I'm worried about is that she will only fall in love with him just to get the handsome prince in the end. This is just a minor worry as I honestly don't think this will be the case as it would ruin the central message of the entire story that true beauty comes from within, yet I'm curious how this will play out).

Only two weeks remaining! :)
