With the purchase of X-Men by Disney I imagine that they are just going to recast everybody and start over with a new look, I think they are trying to burn this off so they can start over. Who knows, this may come out as one of the best movies in the franchise, however initial reports state that this has been phoned in and that the all the aliens in it are generic. Who knows, we will have to see what everyone says as we move closer to the release date next year.

To me, DOFP was the official end of the series.
Logan is an Else Worlds story as far as I am concerned.
Matthew Vaughn wanted DOFP to be the conclusion for the prequel cast. And he was right. It would have certainly been a better end than Dark Phoenix.

I love DOFP but I agree with you on Kitty. That was just rotten how Fox gave her role to Wolverine and made her a sidekick.

I'm sure with First Class not doing too well at the box office, they needed to bring the focusback on Hugh Jackman's popularity (not to mention his iconic role)...it was definitely a business decision. Would've been cool to see Kitty Pride in the time traveling role though.

Days of Future Past is indeed the official end of the official storyline.

There is no point in seeing this movie or any future super hero movie. They are going to suck from here on out until the foreseeable future.

First Class did well In the box office, if it hadn't, there never would have been a Days of Future Past, the franchise would have ended right there.

First Class being my fave X-Men film, I'm not proud to say that it did do badly at the box office. It cost approximately $160 Million to make. I repeatedly hear the claim a film has to make double it's production budget or triple it's production budget to break even. I've heard both of these amounts stated numerous times so it's unclear which one is the correct amount, if either. But as it only made $146 million domestically it doesn't look good whichever way you look at it. At $352 million worldwide it barely made double budget that way.
They made a sequel because they believed in franchise potential. This happens a lot with franchises. And with DOFP's success they were obviously right to do so.

First Class Underperformed..$146 mill Domestically (Last Stand..arguably the "worst" of the series, made $234 million by comparison a whole 5 years earlier). They brought back Jackman, BAM, bigger box office.
Plus there was NO WAY any studio would "ended it right there", not a viable franchise like X-men!
Speak what you know buddy! Ya just got SCHOOLED!

Those numbers are entirely consistent with the history of the X-Men franchise which consistently earned in the $250-$259 mllion range. Days of Future Past is the only X-Men film that was a blockbuster. But it wasn't a blockbuster because it had Wolverine, else Wolverine's solo films would face been bigger hits. DOFP was a success because it featured BOTH X-Men casts, it was the "Endgame" of it's era in that sense.

To talk/argue about it on the internet. Also to see the post credits teaser. Some of it will be good, some will be crap, a couple of spare hours watching and snacking when you have nothing else to do.

They should have brought Cyclops back somehow, fixed his relationship with Jean Grey , off-ed Mystique ( car accident or something ) and followed the comic book Dark Phoenix storyline.
