Is True Romance the best Tarantino while not being directed by the man himself? I just love the originality of the screenplay! And the somewhat quirky Hans Zimmer score also adds to the atmosphere.

By a long shot yes, was it Tarantino or Scott that wanted Clarence dead at the end? I prefer the version they went with.

I don't think it's the best movie written by him. I do however think it has the best scene (Walken vs. Hopper).

I have a difficult time rating Tarantino's work. I love most everything he's done. However, if pressed, I'd have to say that Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs tie for first place for me.

I find Tarantino's dialogue grating to my ear sometimes, or simply silly in an early teens way... It's similar to how I feel about Woody Allen and Aaron Sorkin's dialogue as well...
I spent the first 20 minutes of watching Slater's character trying to figure out whether or not he is meant to be mentally challenged or just a moron... Just an idiot it seems...
Thankfully the film was made by Tony Scott therefore has his sensibility and the Tarantinoisms are a bit toned down or polished...
One of the better Tarantino movies. A fun rental, but not a film I'd rewatch... Although Patricia Arquette was stunning in this (beautiful woman)
His best film is Resvoir Dogs, followed by Jackie Brown/Pulp Fiction... The rest are decent (This, Dusk till Dawn, Grindhouse, half of kill bill) to poor (Django, Inglorious, Hatefull Eight)...

Natural Born Killers is my fave that he didn't direct. True Romance is great but I was always disappointed with the ending. It tied things up too quickly and in that typical Tony Scott way of everyone just chaotically shooting each other. I felt like the film should have been about 20 minutes longer.

It is a really good flick, but I read Tarantino would have changed a lot of it and shot it in his non linear way. One thing for sure. Has a great all star cast with a ton of memorable scenes and characters Oldman as Drexel, Pitt as Floyd, Kilmer as Elvis, and of course the scene w Walden and Hopper is an all time hall of famer

Yeah, of course. I didn't think of that for some reason. FDTD first and then NBK second for me.
