Discuss Badlands

Badlands is one of the most perfect films I've ever seen.

I totally agree. I think it should be mandatory for all film students and photography students (which I teach wink ) too. It is so beautifully photographed. Not to toot my own horn but I got to photography Sissy once and brought a baton for her to twirl for a shot, which she did! camera

Questionable subject matter (and strangely choosing to shy away from some of the worst aspects of Starkweather to perhaps make Kit a more sympathetic character) but a hypnotic film nonetheless. I'd give the Springsteen song it inspired the edge though.

Watched this recently, having seen some of Mallick's later films...

It really creates a mood and atsmosphere in a way that you rarely see in movies today, but also in a way that you cannot do even in the best TV shows...

Compared to Bonnie & Clyde, not only does this film transports you to a diffferent time and place, but it also makes you feel as Holly does...The subjective point of view is there with the narration, but it isn't glamorised... It's just laid bare...

I liked it...

Yes! There are exterior shots in this film to die for. A very, very good film.
