There are maybe 20 movies that will, if I run across them while channel surfing, cause me to stop and watch, and The Quiet Man is one of them. I'm not a fan of John Wayne by any stretch, but this film is just one of those "comfort food" type of films.
The chemistry between Wayne and O'Hara is electric, and the rest of the cast really hit it out of the park.
I'll totally ignore the silly "PC" complaints about the film. Glad TCM runs this several times a year.

The Quiet Man is one of my favourites too. I've lost count on the number of times I've watched it. You're right about the chemistry between John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. They must have been great friends off stage as they did a few movies together.

I was pleasantly surprised with this motion picture. John Wayne did such a good job, and proved Joan Crawford wrong, that when you pull him out of the saddle, you got trouble. He just needs a good director and a good script. :D I'm not surprised that some PC children would be upset about this, but then again, what aren't they upset at? I will definitely check out some more films that Duke and O'Hara did together, as well as more of the latter's filmography. :)

They were the best of lifelong friends. TCM used to periodically show a clip from an interview with O'Hara talking about The Duke. She had quite a time holding back the tears, and the love simply SHONE from her face.

If you love watching them together and their amazing chemistry, may I recommend Rio Grande? I can't get enough of watching them together in that.

It just happens that "Rio Grande" was the one I set my sights upon first. :D So I will definitely get to that one, thanks! :) At first, when I saw the title, I thought it was "Rio Bravo" which confused me, because I've already seen that and did not recall a red-headed woman in that one. :P
