Discuss Last of the Dogmen

I often wish I could look back in time, and personally experience what life was like at different points in history. (Sometimes I just get nostalgic for the times of my youth; I struggle to recall the way things were back then sometimes.) So I can relate to the history professor and the tracker in this movie. I love the outdoors, the old west, indians, and find that the more primitive times hold a great appeal for me. So I love this movie. Tom Berenger plays a tracker named Lewis Gates, and Barbara Hershey plays an indian historian named Lilian Sloan. Gates and Sloan make contact with a small tribe of indians who have remained isolated from white men for about a century.
This film isn't political, it doesn't push some social agenda. It just tells the kind of story which sparks my imagination in a good way.

Yeah I remember this from when I was a kid. Loved it as well. Dont know how well it holds up over time, maybe ill look for the DVD. If there is one. Favorite line 'Dont let them eat my dog!'

The first time I saw this film, Wilford Brimley was "narrating the action" and turning the movie into mush. I wondered why this movie needed an "echo" and set it aside as "forgettable." Then I ran across the original version on YouTube, and the movie came alive. Even though I'd seen it before with Wilford Brimley's narration, it soared like a Bald eagle. (So much for the Hollyweird executives. They see nothing, they say nothing, and they know nothing.) Wilford Brimley is a favorite character actor, but his participation wasn't needed. A great modern/adult Western, cut from the "Lonely Are The Brave" fabric.
