What a strange and disturbing performance. I have never seen footage of the real Paul Snider so have no idea how closely Roberts modelled his performance on the man, but he is truly unnerving here. It's hard to judge whether this is a great performance or not but it is certainly a memorable and unique one. Roberts as an actor tends to be typecast in roles requiring varying degrees of snarling overacting, but he earns a place in film history with this role.
