Discuss Frankenstein

Who was he? I’ve looked at cast lists for this movie, but I don’t see anything listing him anywhere.

At what point of the beginning? Very, very beginning, as in very first man who appears on screen?

Yes.

Later tonight I'll check to see if I recognize him. I'm big on movies of that era, so most of the time can identify supporting actors, as studios tended to cast the same ones frequently.

Thanks and good luck.

It's great character actor Edward Van Sloan.

Here's the clip.

He plays Dr. Waldman in this movie. Also, perhaps most famously, Professor Van Helsing in Dracula.

Being on camera as himself in the intro, with no character makeup or glasses, and with his own regular hairstyle, and such bright stage uplighting on his face, results in him looking nearly unrecognizable to viewers of today. It's Van Sloan though.

I thought that might have been him, but he seemed younger with rounder eyes.
