Very good film, though not as good as the other 3, and extremely sad

Yes, after part 3 wrapped things up with that beautiful ending this did feel like an unnecessary extension at times, but I did enjoy it. The new characters were a mixed bag - Duke Caboom is very funny, Forky's existential crisis is hilarious and I enjoyed the dummies, but Gabby Gabby lacked personality and the duck/bunny pair wore out their welcome. There were enough memorable sequences to make it worthwhile but, disappointingly, Buzz took a back seat for most of the movie. But - once again - the ending killed it. Tears. A strong 6/10 which may go up on reflection.

Hmm yeah, except I liked Gabby Gabby

Overall a good and entertaining film. I was feeling 50-50 before seeing it as I already had my closure during the 3rd film and most of us related to Andy as we say goodbye to Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toys. I felt like this part 4 film was not necessary but at the same time deep in my brain - it's Pixar and I normally love their films.

I saw it yesterday and upon reflection (like what @rudely_murray said), yes it's a great film...in another Toy Storyverse! I'm still contented with the trilogy and will call it that (TS with Andy trilogy, ended perfectly!) and this is like another chapter: Woody's life after Andy. SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same with relationships, Andy was like Woody's first love, that one great love and even if the next person was decent (Bonnie) - can't really compare to your ex lol! Like in reality - it is sad to think about it. Who would have thought at the end of Toy Story 3 that after 1-2 years Bonnie will just leave Woody in the closet? And she's just kindergarten, Andy was gonna bring Woody to college. In 1-3, Woody was all about being together forever and it's better to belong to a kid (convinced Jessie who was also brokenhearted by a kid) etc but all that changed. Pixar's going more deep with their Toy Story and their purpose in life. Who knows after 30 years Toy Story 7: Woody goes into the after life like the book 5 People you Meet in Heaven.

Other Observations:

  • Yes, it's the year for more Keanu Reeves! Didn't even know he was the Canadian stuntman toy
  • The stuff toy prize duck & bunny...sometimes feel like they belong in a Dreamworks film but laughed at the grandma scenes (bubble bath montage) & the key
  • Was happy to see original toys but missed them at the same time, did Mr Potato Head/Aliens etc have lines? Jessie & Buzz - do they still have a thing?
  • Speaking of Buzz...well nothing, wish he had more moments in the film
  • I didn't see any short film before the film, just me or same for all?
  • Since this film had some horror elements (so fitting to have a huge poster of Annabel beside Toy Story in the cinema), would love to see a short: POV of Bonnie's parents having some paranormal activities lol
  • This time it's personal, Bonnie...where's Totoro?????

I just saw it, felt like the trilogy wrapped it up well. There was no need for this whatsoever. I hated Forky at first and honestly thought it was their marketing team taking the piss, but fully understand why he was a character in it (that being said, I work with young children and we could probably make this instead of the parents shelling out 100s of dollars for this).
