All true, this film did ask for a lot of suspension of disbelief but I was game and enjoyed it mostly. It's weird that I was rooting mostly for the war vet too, even though Alex seemed decent enough and I certainly didn't want Rocky (the girl) to get forcibly inseminated. I'm guessing they added the captive girl sub-story as a way to demonize the war vet because, in all honesty, he was the hero of the movie. LOL. I just watched the far worse "Don't Hang Up" which had a similar problem -- the killer had a noble (or at least understandable) motive while the "heroes" were despicable, whiny brats you wanted dead. Is this a new trend?

I'm not the only one who thought this was overrated then?

I couldn't sympathize with any of the characters and I found it pretty silly.

I like the premise, even if it borrowed from The Collector and reversed Wait Until Dark. I think the actors were decent (Lang in particular). I thought the direction and cinematography was above average for the genre. And in a genre full of zombies and poltergeists, I certainly didn't think THIS was the horror movie to overstretch credulity. 🙂

I filed it under "big dumb fun" and was able to enjoy it as such. Of course it was ludicrous, the pleasure (I think intentionally) was in seeing things go horribly wrong for some thieving brats.

I was only disappointed that the film didn't end with the dog driving the car and running Rocky over. But you can't have everything.

I agree with you on 1., 3., 5., 6. and 7. However, I'm willing to overlook 6. and 7. on some artistic license shit. With 2. and 4., you're trying too hard to destroy the film.

At the film's end, I was thinking, Hmm, they left room for a "Don't Breathe 2." Then, lo and behold, I found this.
