It's no way she would have been able to see the inmates that close without a guard at ALL TIMES in those days. Best she would've been on desk duty. If I remember correctly LeatherFace was born with birth defects . The diner scene was stupid. You're telling me that only one person had a gun IN TEXAS, while the shotgun is just behind the counter foe convenience.

Maybe back in 50's-60's staff could work that close to mental patients??
In all seriousness I think logic went out the window as soon as Betty (sheriff's daughter) got out of the car and started following Jed alone wearing a pig's head into a dilapidated warehouse without saying anything to her boyfriend. Rule no. 1 of horror films: characters doing stupid things.
