Presenta una biografía del luthier italiano Antonio Stradivari. Desde que siendo niño oye por primera vez un violín y queda enamorado por el sonido de éste, Antonio se dedica completamente a la música y estudia con Nicolo Amati, por entonces el más célebre constructor de instrumentos de la época. Según va creciendo, su fama crece con él, hasta llegar a convertirse en el luthier mas importante de toda italia. En el trasfondo argumental podemos apreciar la situación histórica del Norte de Italia de finales del siglo XVII y primera mitad del XVIII.

Amikor a kis Antonio életében először meghallja a hegedű varázslatos hangját, elhatározza, hogy ő is készít egy ilyen hangszert. A fiú apja, látva fia eltökéltségét, a híres cremonai mester, Niccolo Amati műhelyébe küldi őt. Rövidesen elsajátítja a hegedűkészítés mesterségét és egyre nagyobb hírnévre tesz szert. Amikor feleségül veszi szeretett Francescáját, úgy tűnik, mindent megkapott az élettől: szakmai elismerést és álmai nőjét. A legendás hegedűkészítő élete azonban szomorú és drámai fordulatokban is bővelkedik.

As a boy the orphan Antonio Stradivari heard for the first time in his life the sound of a violin and he was fascinated by its voice. He tried to construct a violin and attracted the attention of Niccolò Amati, a famous lutist of Cremona. Antonio became apprentice in his bottega (workshop). Grown up, he fell in love for Francesca and he succeeded in marrying her. Afterwards he became more and more famous for his violins and he was granted a diploma from the king of Spain. After the death of his wife he was almost forced to marry again. He was chosen by Antonia Maria and it will be a happy marriage. In the background we have a look at the history of Northern Italy during the seventeenth century.

Alla metà del Seicento, a Cremona, nasce Antonio Stradivari. Messo a bottega ancora ragazzo dal liutaio Amati, ben presto rivela una innata capacità nell'arte di fabbricare strumenti ad arco che, in breve, lo rende il costruttore di strumenti più rinomato in tutt'Europa. Intanto conosce e si innamora di una vedova più anziana di lui che sposa, nonostante l'opposizione delle famiglie. Con la tranquillità domestica il lavoro prospera benché numerose guerre mettano in subbuglio il paese portino invasori di ogni sorta.
