Oh God I think its pretty bad. Her voice is terrible and her expressions are wooden as hell. I dont like the direction they went with this. I feel very underwhelmed. The only good thing is the music for me.

I just found it pretty forgettable. I'm planning to just give it a slightly bored watch to see what's added to the overall MCU.
But I hope I'm wrong. I'm always in favor of more enjoyable movies.

I don't read comic books, so the trailer was confusing to me. Is she an alien? Does she have amnesia? Is she an intergalactic soldier of some kind? Those were the impressions I am left with. I still think the suit looks terrible, but the actress has a striking face and seems like she'll be a strong female figure. But like you, the only thing that actually impressed me was the music.

I have read the comics, but this looks like it's a lot different from her comic origin story. However, knowing what I know about the comics, I can make sort of a storyline from what's in the trailer. It looks like the movie starts when she returns to Earth and you'll only get snippets of her origin sprinkled throughout the movie as flashbacks (or maybe the 90's Earth scenes are sprinkled in between flashbacks from the past). In those flashbacks, it appears that as an Airforce pilot Carol Danvers runs into a Kree ship (probably containing Mar-Vell) while testing a new space plane. She gets hers her powers from the exploding ship (possibly merging with Mar-Vell) and brought to Hala, the Kree home world. There her memories are erased and she's put to work as a member of the Kree Star Force with Ronan as commander and Mar-Vell acting as her mentor (Mar-Vell may be alive or an apparition ala American Werewolf of London). During a mission, she somehow the gets shot back to Earth to the beginning of the movie. The Earth scenes appears to be her landing on Earth and crashing into a Blockbuster. Without any memories of her Earth life, she finds that the planet is secretly inhabited by Skrulls, green goblin-like shapeshifting aliens who are the enemy of the Kree (hence her punching the grandma), and she ends up joining up with young Nick Fury and Coulson to try to stop the spread of the invasion, all in the while her memories are slowly coming back to her.

Thanks for the great synopsis. Based on what the trailer showed, that really does seem to coincide with the story you described.
I'll be honest, i'm 100% done watching superhero movies. It's all played out as far as i'm concerned--there's only so many times I can see someone take a power pose before CG'ing every CG enemy into CG oblivion. But for those that ARE fans of this, I hope it meets their expectations. I know that the character is probably what Marvel/Disney is pinning much of their future on post-Infinity War 2. I find the making of the soup more interesting than the soup itself sometimes.

If they want to replace Robert Downey Jr as the face of the MCU. There going need to get some who can do more than one facial expression. Frankly i would rather they made this movie about Mar-vell. I know hes been dead in the comics forever. But i think Jude Law would make for a better lead than Prune Face . If they really wanted to make a Super Heroine movie. Scarlett Johansson been playing Black Widow for the last 10 f##king years. Take a Hint. Marvel has been pushing Carol Danvers to be Marvel's Wonder Woman. BUT IT JUST DOSEN'T WORK. Wonder Woman is far more interesting than Danvers. And i would take Barbara Gordon over both of them. Ill probably skip this and watch Shazam (The OG Captain Marvel) in April. This is first time ive been more excited to see a DC movie than Marvel movie. And Yeah its a movie about kid who says magic word and becomes a Superhero. If you were expecting the Dark Knight out that, then your a moron.

Different strokes for different folks...still looks like a lighter fun movie...unlike what this Captain Marvel is offering in the 1st trailer thus far.
then again, trying to convince a Masrvetard to quit suckin' on Mickey Mouse's tiny little ba11z is nearly impossible. Enjoy!

I really hope the movie flops now. Not because I don't want it to be a good movie, I just want them to rethink her leading the MCU.
The other characters' interactions with each other are so much fun, but now I picture everyone being sobered up by her deadpan reaction.

Haha I have no brand loyalty. If you put out a film that I view as 'good' ill give it due respect. But if you put out crap they should expect crap from critics. And again film is art, and art is subjective. But from what Ive seen so far, Im not impressed with this one.

I never really had any brand loyalty either so I always felt pretty unbiased saying MCU won over DCEU. It's a bit weird now though because it looks like DC is actually making the better Captain MARVEL movie. Who knows though, at this point it's just 2 previews.

You know, I love both Marvel and DC. And i would love if DCEU was a consistently decent like MCU has been. Maybe MCU's Captain Marvel will surprise me and not look as bland as trailer makes it look. But i don't think this is the character they should be pinning all there hopes on to Replace Iron Man. Overall i think good thing that DC/WB are trying get away from depressing mopey BS they been pushing since 2013. But Im still skeptical if they can make a coherent universe that can make any sense. Frankly i think they should go back to making Stand Alone movies.

What is this strange Bizarro World where DC fanboys are now defending light fun DC movies and condemning a Marvel trailer for its darker more serious tone?
