Pretty much dead on I would say. Its going to be the formula moving forward. They tested it with Ghostbusters 2016 and than Star Wars and now Captain Marvel. Except the MCU isnt at the point that SW is right now. Even if this does flop, which I dont think it will, just under perform a little. Endgame will bring them back to the billion club. The MCU needs two or three major flops for them to realize they are going in the wrong direction, just like SW did. But that will take a few years I believe. Anyway, Im looking forward to the stand alone Black Widow film, you know the one that the fans have been asking for years for. Wonder if ScarJo is going to bring politics/gender/race issues into it as much as Larson has. Time will tell.

Also Marvel/Disney hasn't made movie that has not been well received since the Incredible Hulk (well there was the Inhumans but that was Ike Perlmutter's Marvel TV). Even their works movies, at most gets a it's good/decent review from the critics, and still makes a sizable profit. The whole Get Woke Go Broke premise of this thread is simply retarded.

Thank you for that. One of my favorite characters from the last few years is Furiosa from Fury Road. I love all good well written well acted characters including female ones, but if Charlize Theron had marketed that film as some kind of feminist activist crap to show women are way better than men while saying negative things about men at every opportunity then I wouldn't have seen that movie.

When you go from projected 180-160 to 100 million there is chance that it might not do as well as expected. Ant-Man and the Wasp and the Thor films didnt do to hot either. So the MCU isnt bulletproof. This film will be a critical success with a 98% RT rating, but that dosent mean much when all the critics know if they give it a bad review they will be labeled as misogynistic racist pigs. I want to see what the audience thinks. This wont go broke, but I dont think it will perform as well as SJWs want it to. Larson isnt exactly putting on a welcoming face for all races and sexes. And Marvel isnt reigning her in at all.

I think you make a good point, it's Marvel so it might not bomb, but I think it will underperform big time. Ant-Man and the Wasp came out on the high of Infinity War and opened with $75 mill so I expect Captain Marvel to open below that, maybe $60-ish, and if the audience word of mouth is bad it's going to drop like a rock and have no legs and might break even depending on the budget. It is most likely going to rely on overseas markets.

The point being though, it would be on track to open much bigger if the trailers had been better and if its star had kept her toxic "activism" out of it

Agreed. But I think it will break 100 million opening easy. If I had to put a number on it I would say around 120 million opening weekend. Unless something goes really south, like a tape of Larson calling all white males to not see the film because its not made for them or some shit. But I think you are right about the word of mouth, its either going to make it or break it. And Im not talking about the shills known as critics word either. And if they are going to rely on China they are dead wrong. China dosent exactly see females as equals.
