Discuss Avengers: Infinity War

Just saw it last night in lux theater (big screen, reclining chair, dinner service). Boy, it was like watching Empire Strikes Back. Not a single good thing happened for the good guys. Nothing! They lost and lost badly. Half the heroes died! The villain won in the end and got his nice peaceful view from a log cabin. So... random thoughts....

1) Why was Hulk a coward? Was he afraid of getting beat up again?

2) Spiderman died? Boy, that was fast. One film after the Sony deal and he's dead. What about the upcoming Spiderman film then? With the Miles kid from the comic book?

3) Guardians of the Galaxy, all wiped out! Gone! Except the rabbit. There's a GOTG 3 in the works. What will that be? Captain Rabbit, maybe Howard the Duck and Nebula?

4) I'm guessing only 50% of sentient creatures were killed in the universe. Robots not included, right? Guess the Avengers will be really missing a reprogrammed Ultron right about now to help out...

5) Dr. Strange, you moron! You just gave up the stone like that! WTH? Unless.... it was the only way to get to that one victory out of several billion pathways that you saw. Hmm... Ah, I get it now...

6) Please, in next Avengers film, no time reversal trick, please no! That would be such a gimmick. Y'all killed the Avengers, be courageous and keep them dead.

7) Will we see Fantastic Four or mutants in next film? Probably not, but just wondering. Who's left, anyways? Think Haweye can beat Thanos with an arrow? Or Antman can drag him down to quantum size and leave him there for good?

8) My prediction for next Avengers film - Captain Marvel saves the day! She gets Nick Fury's message, returns to Earth from whatever galaxy she was visiting. She learns from Thor about the extra gauntlet, gathers up remaining Avengers, goes to retrieve the inifinity stones and puts them into the gauntlet. She wears it, reverses all the universal deaths, including Scarlet Witch, who this time destroys all 6 stones like she tried with Vision's stone. No more stones, so no one can ever repeat Thanos' plan. Spidey and the GOTG are back in time to prepare for their next films.

Oh, and the strain of using the stones causes Captain Marvel to get incurable cancer, from which she will die while all the heroes mourn.

Okay, maybe not, but Captain Marvel will save the day somehow.

The read an interesting thing about the Hulk the other day from one of the Russo's. That he wasn't being a coward, but sick of always taking a beating and only being called upon by Banner when he needed someone to protect him. It's just supposed to be another nuance of the relationship between Banner and Hulk that'll be resolved in the 4th Avengers. As the Russo's said, this isn't the first time Hulk has taken a beating (Thor & Hulk Buster Armor for instance).. He's just tired of doing it as he's getting more mature and understanding more.

A lot of your other questions have been covered already.

Mainly the thought is that all of the characters that died after Thanos snapped his fingers are hanging out in the soul stone and can and will be undone.

Dr. Strange gave up the stone because that was the only chance of stopping Thanos. As he said, he saw 14,000,065 possible with only 1 where Thanos loses. Obviously the one where Thanos loses he saw that he gave the time stone to him willingly. So he said that one outcome in motion.

Just saw the movie today. What a cliffhanger. Seems like half the population turned to dust. Who did Nick Fury call on his phone? I've been out of the Marvel loop for two generations. You know in the next movie people will return from the dead. There will be some kind of time reversal thingy. You'd think the X-Men and Fantastic Four would be included in the movie, but my brother said the character rights belong to different companies. Is there a tie-in with the movie and Marvel's Agents of Shield? One character mentioned Thanos.

It was a scene after the credits. Nick Fury is about to turn to dust right after pages Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel/Ms. Marvel/Carol Danvers wont get her own movie until next year before Avenger 4. There was a Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) before Carol Danvers. But since hes been dead for so long (since the 70's). They made her Captain Marvel. Before that she was Ms. Marvel. She pretty much a Space Superhero.

Jude Law was casted as Mar-Vell, so I'm pretty sure there'll be some right of passage storyline involved in Captain Marvel movie.

I'm geniunely pissed off at this development because ALL they had to do was stab or shoot Bruce to make Hulk come out. Hulk has no choice when Bruce is in mortal danger FYI. Bruce even jumped off the Spaceship in Thor: Ragnarok and died for a second before Hulk took over, so why oh why were they protecting him from Black Dwarf like he was a pleb civilian??? Makes no goddamn sense.

In fact, I was expecting him to hurt Bruce mortally only for Hulk to take over and beat the shit out of Black dwarf and Ebony Maw with his right hand behind his back.

You know, I thought about that.. i.e. that the Hulk owuld have to come out if Bruce got critically hurt. However, I never thought to do it intentionally. That makes a lot of sense and will annoy me going forward too.

Well, they don't have 50 years of comic book lore and a marvel-wikipedia to learn all this. They didn't know what was happening with Banner/Hulk. All they knew is that he couldn't change at will.

Bruce Banner's direct quote from first Avengers movie: "I didn't see an end, so I put a bullet in my mouth and the other guy spit it out." This is exactly the kind of crucial detail that was shared to ALL of the original Avengers including Tony Stark, FYI. Especially since Bruce already knows this and used it effectively to change to Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok. In Avengers: Age of Ultron Black Widow pushes Bruce down the chasm to bring out the Hulk AS WELL!!!

So, please don't throw at me "they don't know comic book lore and marvel-wikipedia" crap when all of the previous movies have already established this cannon.

Can't remember who knows who.

Anyways, Banner tries to change but can't. That hadn't happened before. Noone knows what would happen if Banner was mortally wounded this time.
