Discuss Avengers: Infinity War

Is anyone else tired of Marvel and DC's need to kill off any villains after they appear once in a movie? Thanos and Loki have been an exception but they seem to love to Kill villains as a mean to end the movie. If they would have done this in comic books they wouldn't be where they are today.

I feel where you are coming from, but so many of the villains in the Marvel movies are bland and uninteresting anyway.

I don't know. I always found it the other way. I liked Spider Man's villains a lot more then I like him. He would have been a lot more interesting without the love interests.....especially Mary Jane. But come on......DOOM??? Probably one of the most complex evil villains in the Marvel universe. JUGGERNAUT.....they destroyed his character in the X-Men movies. VENOM.....liked him more then Spidey. I remember reading the Secret Wars 1 when I was a kid and was kind of rooting for the Villans to win.

Well I meant the Marvel Cinematic Universe's villains, not the ones they've sold off to Fox and maybe others. They're maybe all a bunch of rich white guys. Perhaps the most interesting one, Loki, is tiresome and needs to go.

Agreed with that....i hope Fox sells the rights to Disney. The Marvel Universe needs to be whole again.

Justin Hammer, Loki, Bucky, Baron Zemo, Dormammu, Baron Mordo, Nebula, Vulture, the Grandmaster, Surtur, Abomination, the Leader? All villains that have appeared in MCU-movies without being killed.

Surtur killed himself that's why.

We don't know what happens to Surtur. He might still be out there. Hela also.

One main problem with the Marvel movies is that their villains tend to be incredibly bland and generic. Exceptions are Loki, Red Skull, Kingpin, Purple Man, Cottonmouth, the Vulture, the Winter Soldier, and Jigsaw. I think that one of the good things about the Fox-Disney deal is that Marvel will be getting great villains like Dr. Doom, Magneto, Emma Frost, Mr. Sinister, Apocalypse, and Galactus.

So Marvel needs to take those great villains and develop them over multiple movies and not kill them off.

But the thing with many of these movies is that they are telling the hero's story, not the villain's. The two Avengers-movies has been about the villains and how the heroes gather to defeat them. The solo films is about a hero facing difficulties and overcoming them. Winter Soldier, Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians, Ragnarok, all the best movies are good because the plot makes them good. Not because of the villains.

Right, so Marvel can do what they want with Galactus, the big poppa of bad guys.

I think I heard Tim Story, the director of the first two FF movies, say that he didn't want a giant, purple man in his film. I'd bet that Marvel will do differently than what he did.

Villains killed in first movie:

  • Iron Monger
  • Whiplash
  • Killian
  • Frost Giant
  • Dark Elf
  • Ronan
  • Alexander Pierce
  • Kaecillius
  • Ultron
  • Yellow Jacket
  • Ego

Villains not killed:

  • Loki
  • Red Skull
  • The Winter Soldier
  • Xemo
  • Thanos
  • Hela
  • Nebula
  • Mordo
  • Dormammu
  • The Grand Master
  • Abomination
  • The Vulture
  • Ayesha

So about half and half. Half of the time is clearly not always. And which of those they killed did you really want to see again? The Dark Elf?-

At least he won't be a giant space cloud like in that FF4 movie.

Let's hope not.

To be fair. That wasn't the real Whiplash. The true Whiplash, Marcus Scarlotti, appeared in Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D and by all accounts he's still alive.

Dr. Zola is proberly still "alive" in a computer somewhere.
