I know it's probably unlikely, but I would like to see an R rated Iron Man 4. Something similar in style and tone to what Fox just did with Logan. Robert Downey Jr. would play an awesome broken down superhero.

There's a time and a place for R rated and broken heroes, but I don't think the MCU is it. MCU thrives on a light hearted, sense of adventure that is bright and accessible to all ages. Suddenly throwing an R rated film into the mix wouldn't gel, especially given how interconnected everything is.
I loved Logan and would welcome more films like it in the future. An R rating made sense for Wolverine - especially for that story. But I can't see it working for Iron-Man. I think Civil War is as dark as things need to get for that character. He needs to come out the other side triumphantly now, not spiral further into despair

I know it's unlikely, but I just think it could be good. I know in the comics Tony was an alcoholic. I think it would be interesting if that was a main plot point in an Iron Man film.

They kinda touched on his alcoholism in Iron Man 2 - but it was played mostly for laughs.
One of the many things wrong with that film!!

Do you not count the Netflix stuff as part of the MCU?

I can see something darker for Iron Man 4 after the Infinity War movies are over... but just because it's darker doesn't mean it needs to be rated R. I love a good R rated movie and Logan was incredible, but that fits Wolverine more than Iron Man and although I do not oppose cursing (I curse a lot), it seemed out of place in Logan... like they were putting in too much because of the R rating. There's three ways a movie can get an R rating: 1. Excessive Blood (Iron Man wouldn't cause a lot of blood unless he starts blasting people's faces off). 2. Cursing (possible for an Iron Man movie but it would be silly to get an R rating just off of cursing). 3. Nudity (very possible that a drunk, broken-down Tony Stark could have orgies and such, but I can't see Disney, Marvel or even RDJ wanting an Iron Man movie with orgies).
Once Avengers 4 wraps up and most of the crew is dead, a Logan-esque Iron Man would make sense as he tries to cope but it would need to be the perfect story and not just for the sake of an R rating.
If the MCU ever does release an R rated movie, it would need to be with Venom and Carnage.

Wasn't Deadpool rated R?

It was... but it wasn't part of the MCU. Fox released that "in association" with Marvel Entertainment. Same as Logan and Deadpool 2. The MCU is strictly Marvel Studios (and Disney) and they've yet to have anything other than PG-13.

Oh I forgot it was through Fox.
