Thought this was an interesting article re the time travel mess in this film:-

Tilda Swinton states that her reshoots were to stress that new timelines are only created by removing an Infinity Stone (which was indeed pretty clearly explained in the film to be fair). I was therefore struggling to understand how any of that made any sense given the Russo's claim that Cap going back created an alternate timeline.
However if you just completely ignore that external explanation and just go with what was shown in the movie based upon the script then there is no contradiction, Cap just grew old on the rectified timeline once returning the Space Stone in the 1950s.
However one quibble I think you could have with that would be - wouldn't that stone have had to be returned first in order for the correct timeline to exist for the other stones to be returned further down the line? 🤔

Good point, but for me, once I saw that they were doing something involving time travel, I just had to kind of say to myself, here we go with this again. I grew up watching films like Terminator and Back To the Future, so just had to turn my brain off for some of that. It gets too confusing and/or implausible. I did have to ask a buddy of mine about how it would relate to the soul stone sacrifices, but it's as silly as it was 30 years ago. I liked that Ant-Man and War Machine were talking about how those time travel movies are bs....then they do a time travel plot too.

Both The Terminator and Back to the Future are 3000 times better movies than Endgame. Also T2, BTTF2 and BTTF3, all superior to Endgame. It's not even a contest.

To be honest I find all these marvel films much the same - not bad, reasonably entertaining but ultimately just meatshake.
In terms of time travel certainly BTTF was better and consistent in how it worked - even if the fading out photo business probably didn't make much sense if being honest. But didn't terminator, as a franchise, actually land up a bit like Endgame in the end? i.e. a mixture of the past changing the future on a fixed timeline and coming into the past creating a new timeline? Only seen it once but I think that's what Genysis did.

Agreed, BTTTF Trilogy & a lesser known Spanish movie called "Timecrimes" aka "CronoCrimenes" did the time jumping & after effects SO much better then EndGame did! In fact, if I ever rewatch EndGame, I can see myself skipping through some of the heist scenes...best part of the movie is the climax. I'm sure EVERYONE can agree with me! (I'm sure someone will come out of the woodwork defending the heist though)

Are you fucking crazy? Endgame is better than back to the future and the overrated poorly made Terminator 2 I mean rewatch Arnie jumping off that truck and the shit special effects in T2 compared to today and tell me you're ain't on drugs.

The scene with Tony and his dad was better than anything you could come up with, sometimes racist.

I hate reading garbage like this, comparing films of different eras based on the special effects of their day.
I guess you'd probably rate some bog standard MCU film like Ant-Man as superior to Superman 78 on this basis 😂
It's weird too cause it seems to be a more recent generation thing. e.g. I wasn't born when the original Superman came out and yeah, when I watched it on the box as a kid, some of the effects were obvious. But it never detracted from appreciating the majesty of the film. Same with watching old Ray Harryhausen films and dodgy 50s/60s sci-fis I guess. I'd still rather rewatch them today than some soul-less cgi'd copy / paste.
