Michael Keaton as Batman stirred nostalgia for me, I saw him with Jack Nicholson grooving to Prince soundtrack in theatres back when movies had sequels and were franchises but long before "cinematic universes" became a real big thing.
Did his rendition here connect to his '89-'90s trilogy?

Not really. There are going to be some spoilers here if you want to know more, but I see no way around it:
Instead, Keaton's Batman in The Flash exists in a sort of alternate history. In his timeline, the crime rate in Gotham has dramatically decreased, so when The Flash from our timeline meets him, Keaton's Batman has retired. In fact, in the alternate timeline most of the superheros that we are familiar with don't even exist. Batman is basically the only one. And then Keaton comes out of retirement and helps The Flash.
Contrary to most of the rest of the population, I actually thought The Flash was a pretty good movie. Even those who didn't like it, enjoyed Keaton's performance. You might want to check it out, DRD. But, I'm biased (because I liked the movie overall).

I kinda dig this in a way that escapes articulation for me right now! Let me digest and, if some words might emerge worth sharing, I will.
Sounds like fun!

No. But I would have loved a movie with Michael Keaton as an older Batman.
