For whatever reason, I found myself rewatching all the Alien and Terminator films over the past week. Well, I got as far as SALVATION and fell asleep halfway through. I don't know how you can make an action movie any more dull.

This film is so nauseatingly bad (aside from a few good action scenes) up until the very end, when it gets a little more interesting with all the robots going crazy, but boy oh boy is it a chore up to that point. The idea of terminators feeling emotions totally undermines what makes them scary (I disliked it when the T1000 was screaming in pain while melting, but the TX puts him to shame by crying and whining through most of her last scene). Also, rather than killing people, they seem to prefer to throw people around way too much (especially in Salvation but there's 1-2 cases of it happening here too).

That said, this movie seemed to me to have a major hole in the plot regarding the timeline of everything.

So the T-X has some kind of side-quest to killed Connor's future lieutenants before Judgement Day. However, there doesn't seem to be nearly enough time to do that as Judgement Day happens like 2-3 days after she goes back in time. If she was supposed to attend to a giant hit-list of people, then why would skynet send her back to the week before Judgement Day (assuming there's any way to control what time you set on your time machine to go back to)? Like, why even bother with the sidequest anyway? It was starting to get ridiculous already by T2 that skynet would send terminators back in time regularly, immediately followed by humans or good terminators. So why does it keep happening over and over? Can't Skynet send anything back without turning the time machine off right afterward? Or having any security at all around where this time machine is? D-U-M-B.

At least Salvation tried to do a little something different with the franchise than get stuck in the whole time travel assassin formula. Unfortunately it forgot to come up with something more interesting for the terminators to do.
