It looks like a non-Pixar film trying to be a Pixar film. I'm not a fan of his politics, but Alec Baldwin is always brilliant at comedy. Having read some reviews, they say that while he delivers, the film itself isn't terribly good. (It's currently sitting at 26% on Rottentomatoes.) That won't stop it from making $40-60M or even more its opening weekend, though. Animated movies with Pixar-like character designs and notable actors are almost guaranteed to make $100M+ at the boxoffice.

The themes seem a little adult for younger audiences, though.

EDIT: The studio and analysts are predicting closer to $28M, but I'll leave my prediction up there. I don't watch TV so I don't know how much hype Boss Baby has gotten. The reviews, though, won't necessarily dent interest if the weather is still yucky and the kids are bored.

I hate to say I told you so (not really), but The Boss Baby is on track to make $50+M this weekend and officially knock Beauty and the Beast out of the top spot. Having been a parent, I know how one craves the excuse to drag the kids to the theater where everyone can just relax, enjoy junk food, and be a family. The movies are almost secondary to the experience.

Have you watched the film? My daughter is now asking to be taken to this...

It's not the worst kids film ever. Maybe gets a bonus half star if you're taking bickering siblings to see it 😉

Thanks

It's a weird film. Incredibly weird. Just the story itself is quite strange although the idea behind it is quite sound.
