For me, the most disturbing scene would be the shopping mall scene when, in an attempt to gun down the one rabid lunatic, the police officer's stray bullet hits the man dressed as Santa right in front of the kids. David Cronenberg even said on the commentary, that scene is for eveyone whose ever hated the commercialization of holidays. I know it was supposed to be a darkly humorous scene, but, damn....
This was a pretty messed up film. It's another film I saw on Saturday Nightmares On the USA Network. I miss that program and I wish they would bring it back.

I haven't seen this in decades but the jackhammer through the car door is still in my mind. That santa bit sounds awesome, will have to watch again!

yeah, I just finished watching it and thinking that Santa getting shot was downright CRUEL!
For me the short scene where the "whatever" is poking out of her wound...ewwwww!

SPOILER
The scene where I think at the end, the woman's body is seen inside of the back of the trash truck.
