Tom Hiddleston isn't very convincing as an action hero

First of all, let me just say hello to all of you since it's my first day here and I just registered and tell you how nice it was to find this site with the discussion forum function after the douchebags at imdb decided to close theirs down. I'm very happy to be here and it's very nice to see you all.
Now...as I was saying....Tom Hidlleston....not a convincing action hero by a longshot. Didn't they portray him as some super deadly SAS agent in the beginning, but in the movie he looks like he is made of sugar and glass and in every scene his facial expression portrays that he just wants to go cry and cower in a corner. Also in the end, what was his function in the movie? To run around in a gas mask slicing some flying rodents with a katana? I guess they got their moneys worth after all. What was that sword made out of anyways? 50 cal. bullets didn't seem to even penetrate those giant lizard things' skin, but that sword lethargically swung by an almost 60 year old overweight John C. Reilly was like kryptonite to them.

he was like a discount Robert Muldoon.
but i'm not sure how much of that is on Hiddleston specifically rather than the script or direction.

I liked him in Night Manager because he was an action hero who had to use his brain more than be physically active. Here he just looked like he had nothing to do or work with.

He was good in the night manager.. I agree... That character is set up that way...
I just can't see him as Bond...

I can see him as Bond as his character in the Night Manager was pretty much like that; suave, clean cut and with a rough edge.
However, he didn't suit the role in that and he doesn't suit the role in this. He's just too....posh.
Public schoolboy trying to be an action hero with his perfect skin and hair, as well as his immaculately spoken English.

He was supposed to be military in this, and I thought he looked cool and handsome in the beginning - tan and fit... But then I was shocked by what a pussy he was on the island!!! He was such a douche! I am a thin girl and I could have slapped him silly! Damn, what a disappointment and waste of muscle-tissue on that wimp! He should have been equipped with a nice naughty dress, comb, and mirror instead of ammo... bleurgh!
... ok, I will stop now, I just had to get that out of the body... Aaah :)
