Overall the movie wasn't as bad as Genysis, the only truly good thing about the movie was Linda Hamilton. But my god, the Dani character/actress is so terrible and unbelievable. Why not just have Sarah be the leader of the resistance?
Grace, although an interesting concept of a character, was not well done. She grew up in a post apocalyptic world but has no interest in the pre-apocalyptic world. Her dad was killed over a can of peaches but she she no interest in eating some good food. There's no fish out of water moment for someone who traveled from the future having to fight mechanical tentacle monster robots.
I honestly think removing Dani/Grace and simply focusing on Sarah and "Carl" should have been the main focus. As much as I hate them killing off John, it at least gave Hamilton the chance to play a character who had experienced loss and failure despite her best efforts. Dedicating herself to destroying terminators that were still being sent back and making sure a new Skynet never rose up would have been perfectly fine. Maybe have her adopt or take kindly to a kid who could carry on after her.
This movie makes more or less the same mistake the Disney Star Wars movies makes, which is making the classic characters we actually care about out to be incompetent or killing them off in exchange for new discount Kirkland brand characters who are far less interesting (although Grace could have been really cool with a few tweaks).

A question: while Rey may return in a sequel of Star Wars, is there any chance of Dani being in a sequel/reboot?

Well she's still alive so she could, but the movie bombed pretty badly. The past 2 movies have ignored the previous non T1/T2 movies so I doubt they'll continue with this timeline.
Personally I think the Terminator series needs to die, but it probably won't. I'd much rather see a continuation of Salvation in some way where it's John Connor leading the human resistance to victory but they've turned him evil and killed him in the last two movies so what's the point? Unless the next movie has Old Sarah using time travel to go back and save John I'm not interested.
