(SPOILERS)

Under T'Chaka's rule it was an isolationist country, but as T'Chala finds out when he assumes power that situation is not tenable since the need to keep Wakanda isolated and a secret ends up fuelling both Killmonger's challenge to the throne as well as the conflict that leads tot he rebellion by the Get Out guy's tribe...

Nakia urges open borders and sharing all reasources, Shuri beleives niavly that technology will solve everything, so T'Chala ends up making a diplomatic and measured response which is to keep Wakanda as is, but to start an outreach programme in the most needed urban centres..

So yeah, the politics of Wakandais basically that of a isolationist ehthnostate coming to terms with being part of the world and engaggin in it positively.... It's more like a morarchy version of post world war Ii Japan than a Trump fantasy, although i do see the parallels in thought...
