Discuss Black Panther

"*A soaring, aspirational ode to monarchical ethnostates! * That Black Panther will be an exciting, action-packed superhero film is obvious from the second the Marvel fanfare begins. As its narrative unfolds, it becomes just as obvious that the film - about the heroic head of state of a wealthy, technologically-advanced first-world nation with a strict immigration policy whose closest advisers are the strong, beautiful women in his family - is an adulatory homage to Donald Trump. Director Ryan Coogler's decision to use a comic book character from the fictional African nation of Wakanda as his vehicle to deliver his cinematic genuflection to the 45th President of the United States - an aspirational allegory for America - is brilliant in its subversiveness"

"NO LGBTQ REPRESENTATION Why would a movie have a group of muscular, bald, beautiful butch women and not show a single second, or even inference, of proud sapphic lovemaking? Maybe it's too much to ask that Black Panther and Captain America have fallen in love during his stay in Wakanda, but can't he at least have a handsome Prince Consort? Huge oversight."

" I'm a little troubled by the lack of diversity on display in this, Marvel's action-packed remake of Eddie Murphy's classic 1988 comedy 'Coming To America'.

Some of its more Trump-supporting fans may disagree but Wakanda is simply not going to be the monolithic society that it once was in the last century. Wakanda is changing, and whites are going to be at the center of that. Yes, tearing down its borders is a huge transformation for Wakanda to make, but Diversity is our strength, and it's high time Wakanda starts accepting a future in which whites are just as much a part of Wakanda as blacks."
