I still haven't seen the movie but why are so many people hating this movie? Only because most of its actors are black?
Is this the problem?

From what I can tell, the """controversy""" revolves around fear of heavy handed black nationalism. The media focus on race instead of content regarding this movie has created the idea that there is some embedded indictment of white people. The marketing has not been that way but the buzz (including from some actors) has had some soap-box quality to it. By no fault of the movie itself, people are squeamish about preachy content which seems to only exist in rumor. People in general seemed to be excited about the movie until the hyper-race issues commanded the focus.
I reserve judgement until I've seen the movie. The controversy to me is the casting of Forrest Whitaker. I hate that actor.

Sexually frustrated basement dwelling racists with internet access is my guess.

Every time people start mixing movies with politics everything just goes down the toilet. What a shame.

As opposed to corporate racists with enough money to "pay for" the hype and create a SJW aura around the marketing campaign?

Didnt hear about the 3 or so critics that gave it a negative review and got call 'racists' because they didnt like the film? Or the fact that some black people are calling for Disney to donate 25% of its profits to black communities. I still get shocked at how fucking stupid people can be. This film should stand on its merits that its a Marvel film introducing a new Superhero. Not that its a 'black film' or 'political' film. Films and identity politics never mix well, look at the all female Ghostbusters for example. From what I hear it lacks in the action and not enough Michael B. Jordan! Also some of the CGI dosnet look finished. Honestly if this wasnt a 'black' film it would probably land somewhere in the back of Marvel films along with Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 2.

ahaha that really happened? People think Disney should donate 25% of its profits to black communities? That's frickin' insane.
I loved the movie by the way. I can totally understand why some people would be "squeamish" though.

Some people with long memories might be squeamish about the title because it reminds them of the Black Panthers

So they wanted Disney to donate 25% of the profits to black communities???
Those black people are the ones who are being racist.

Haha its called irony....And this is Hollywood, Disney isnt going to donate shit. They'll just say they already do donate to black communities via other charities.

i've watched the movie and I really don't see what the fuss was about...
it seems a masterful PR move by the studios and filmmakers... The media frenzy and such... And the easily triggered social media hordes (fanatically pro and against)...
The movie itself is quite tame and it really is just another marvel movie, but has the swaggar and coolness of black people.... Yeah, Michael B. Jordan was good, as was Boseman... The rest are all bit parts, but we do get to see Lupita Nyong'o's beautiful face instead of hiding it behind CGI cartoons...

It's pure BS. My neighborhood in about 50/50 black and Latino, but I just went to the AMC (5 minutes by foot), and Latinos outnumbered blacks 10 to 1. I got to the counter and it just sold out till 5pm on a farking Sunday morning. This movie WILL set a record.
