This will be the first Marvel film in some years that I will not be seeing OW. I think it's the fact that in every interview the cast talk about "strong black women" and every review talks about how it's "the most culturally important film of all time" and crap like that that I don't care about. Maybe one in ten of the positive reviews actually address aspects of the film that I might care about, like plot, excitement, etc.
Does anyone else feel this way?

I tend to be good at letting the movie speak for itself...
I've seen so much controversy and hype about various movies over the years to know that it's usually less about the movie itself and more about other issues in media or politics, or it is part of marketing...
It helps that I rarely watch TV and don't really have social media accounts... So I've been spared a lot of the hype and commentary...
I usualy watch only one comicbook/kids movie a year, as I'm not a fan... Last year it was Star Wars, the year before Batman Vs Superman... I think I might check out Black Panther at some point if my friends want to see it, but probably not on opening weekend as I'm busy anyway... I like the director, he did good work with Creed and the actors are pretty good.
Also, having seen Get Out before it turned into a media circus, I couldn't spunderstand what the fuss was about... It's a good horror-comedy, but not a big political statement, nor was it transgressive... It's absurd how the media (regular and social) really blew it out of proportion...
I'd recommemd to let the movie speak for itself... It could suck like The Last Jedi, or could be fun like Get Out...

@Renovatio :😎👍:I agree with you. Let the movie speak for itself. BTW, how are you? Haven't talked to you for a while!

@PhelpsFan I'm well... Thanks for asking... Hope you are too... I've been active on the boards of movies that I've been watching... Most recently the Shape Of Water and Annihilation...
I did end up watching Black Panther, it was alright. Not particularly controversial, nor is it the masterpeice that the hype machine made it out to be...
There was one scene in a casino that reminded me of the casino scene in Skyfall... I could use a new Bond movie or another spy thriller... I'll check out Red Sparrow when it opens near me..

I'm also getting tired of the "most culturally important film of all time" BS, but if you've enjoyed the other MCU films you should enjoy this one. Marvel seem to have found a formula that works and they just make a few changes to each movie to give it a different feel. I wouldn't say it's my favourite MCU entry, but it's above average.

@Invidia i agree that Get Out was a good movie, but the "fuss" i was talking about was the media circus and online hysteria about it being socially important or controversial...
it's a fun movie, i bought it

@Renovatio: 😄: The minute I saw the casino set, I thought of Skyfall too! I kept waiting for the Komodo Dragons too show up!

Haha... I know, had the same feeling, especially as that where they meet the CIA guy...
I liked the way that sequence was shot, without cuts every few seconds... It was a nice moment, even though I thought it was an average movie...
I wouldn't mind watching Boseman play an american spy in a new thiller/espionage movie... I think he could pull it off... But not as Bond, obviously...

Ugh I felt the same way about Wonder Woman, till I saw it and enjoyed it. People make way to much of a big deal about films like this. And of course the studios go with it to make more money, who can blame them? Get stupid SJWs to shill for you for free is great. If you really dont feel like seeing it and supporting SJW propaganda wait till its at Redbox/Netflix. We all know no one will be talking about this film after Avengers comes out. Marvel is really smart when it comes to planning and releasing their films. They are going to piggyback of BP into Avengers.

Hi everyone. For some unknown reason everytime I get notified that there's a new post on this thread, when I pull it up, the only post I can get is the original post by A to Z and nothing else. Is anyone else having this problem? 🤔

I don't have this problem. Do you have many posters on your "ignore" list?

No, but I have noticed that if you click the email link it just takes you to the first post, and so does the Notification Bell unless you are careful to click "view" rather than the main box.
