I was gonna say the same, most Marvel films are decent enough but average enjoyable films to me, this one looks it may be on the level of Winter Soldier.

Yeah Wakanda in the comics is 100 years ahead of the rest of the world, but put up a façade that they are a 3rd world nation to keep others from being tempted to try to take what they have. They already have the cure to Cancer and AIDS but are unwilling to share it lest they are forced to constantly defend their country. They already face enough problems from the few people who know the truth about it.
Wakanda is self sufficient so never really had any reason to have to do anything with the rest of the world, they usually dealt with external issues quietly (through backdoor deals or using the Black Panther). However, the threat of well intentioned super powered people (though unneeded) coming into their country unannounced is what sparks them to becoming more involved in world politics (as we see in Civil War). It looks like from the trailer they are also getting involved in the issue of climate change as that is also a world issue could affect them ultimately.
