Just Curious. Also i had a hard time buying Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. Not because she black. But because she looks like she needs a ladder to reach her kitchen cabinets.

She's a valkyrie.

She is a Valkyrie, not Brunhilda of the traditional Defenders comics pages. I too was unhappy with the casting since Valkyrie is famous for nothing much beyond the long blonde braids, Swedish milk-maid appearance, and constantly telling foes that they are not worthy of the edge of her blade (thus permitting use of a sword wielding heroin under the comic code).
But she is some other Valkyrie and actually does a great job. I'm cool with her now.

Overall i think she did a good job. Its probably for the best they didn't make her "THE" Valkyrie. They should have credit her as Scrapper 142. That way this whole fan outrage could have been avoided.

Hmm. Looking further into it, the Wikipedia page claims she is Valkyrie:

Maybe that is the intent, but the movie itself totally leaves it vague. I guess it will be up to future installments to confirm by revealing her true name....

I thought she was THE Valkyrie.. but that was mainly from articles I have read and less to do with what I saw in the movie. She looked like just one of many in the movie and she just happened to escape Hela by luck.
Either way, she was great. I have a huge crush on Tessa Thompson now.

In Norse mythology a Valkyrie is not a warrior. She is a fair female helper of Odin who brings slain men from the battlefields to the gates of Valhalla. In other words; they bring the worthy dead to the afterlife. Sometimes they even used magic to assist in battle death of those skilled warriors that Odin had a shine to, so they could come join him in Valhalla sooner than later. So they were quite cunning in their business.
Naturally since the Norse were almost exclusively fair-skinned a thousand years ago, we must assume the imagined Gods (aka Aser) at the time were also imagined like this. In the myths they are often pictured as beautiful and alluring, but outright warriors they were not...
A side note to this; at the time of Ragnarock (aka end of the world) the Valkyrie valiantly fight next to Odin (and perish) . So at the end of time, they become warriors like all others but in truth most (if not all) of Valhalla were warriors in one form or another... Odin preferred it like this.

Whether "a" or "the" Valkyrie, I didn't like her. Or, at least, how she was likely directed to act. I'm tried of black women always being portrayed as having to do that head bobbing and weaving thing. Yet another reason Black Panther was so refreshing for its depiction of black women as something other than just hood rats.
That said, it was good to see powerful women in this film on both sides. While Marvel lagged DC in making a movie with a female headline lead, this demonstrated that Marvel is capable. They'll take another step forward with Ant-Man 2 and the Wasp, and yet another when Black Widow, after already appearing in six Marvel movies, finally gets her headline movie... but I digress...

I'm sorry, did you say something? Actually, no need to answer that 'cause I don't care if you did. You're dismissed, go outside and play.

I would say she was A valkyrie, but after Hela killed'em all she was the only remaining, making her The Valkyrie.

Me neither but I don't think "The valkyrie looking to dark" is the only or biggest difference between the Thor-series and Norse mythology. For one thing the Norse gods aren't aliens.

Is that your way of saying I've got sand? Or, how about, I'm uppity? You think, perhaps, I should know my place?
